These traditional flat platters are hand-woven by basket weavers in Uganda. They are made by women in a traditional way from raffia palm tightly woven around a core of banana leaf stem.
They are around 30 -45cm in diameter and come in traditional black and earthy tones. The patterns each represent an element of traditional African culture. The coloured baskets are traditionally given in Uganda as gifts on special occasions and can be used for fruit, bread or decoration. They are the perfect accent for any room of the house.
